you were a phase.
like the 3 years in middle school
when I had to wear braces.
like the time i was 7
when i decorated my whole room pink.
like the school year
when i thought i needed every color of skinny jeans.
like the times throughout my childhood
when i believed i wasn’t good enough.
like the week in elementary school
when i wrote in only cursive.
like the 10 years
when i wanted to be a professional athlete.
you were just a phase.
yet you are a part of who i am.
but like the moon,
i have to start new.
